How we work with investment clients
Exclusive Analysis works closely with private equity firms, hedge funds, other investment managers and banks. At the company / individual level we reach out to our global intelligence network or sources and analysts to carry out:
Due diligence investigations into the backgrounds and claims of specific individuals or companies. We alert our clients to any reasons they might not wish to do business with certain counterparties?
For instance, are they really who they say they are and do they have any other identities; have they been involved in previous business failures or bankruptcies; is their a particularly complicated or unusual ownership structure to a company and does this raise any red flags; are there any suspicions of fraudulent practices or money laundering; are there any past or pending legal proceedings etc.?
Appraisals of political connections of individuals or companies. We tell our clients whether we feel their counterparties are well connected at the local and national levels politically around the world. What is the nature of these personal connections and how durable are they likely to prove? Is the company well positioned to win key new contracts? Alternatively, is it poorly connected and potentially more vulnerable to having its licences cancelled, assets expropriated or large back tax claims imposed? Is a change of government likely and what would this mean for the prospects of the company or individual in question?
At the sector / country level we forecast political and regulatory developments in developing countries over specific time frames. For example:
- How succession in Saudi Arabia is likely to proceed after King Abdullah and what this means for Western interests
- The extent to which labour unrest is likely to disrupt manufacturing operations in a specific Chinese province or output at a gold mine in South Africa
- How legislative changes in Russia will impact on the profitability of energy or mining firms
- The risk environmental protestors will take over the assets of oil companies in Ecuador and stop production
